The Connectivity Project

How we use your data

We collect only what we need to keep a register of hotspot operators, and we handle it in line with Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019. This is a plain-language summary; have it reviewed before launch.

What we collect

Your full name, the district and town where you operate, your phone number and, if you choose to give it, your email address. We also record the date you registered and gave consent.

Why we collect it

To keep an accurate register of operators, to confirm membership through your identity tag, to share updates that affect you, and to represent operators as a group. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Who can see it

Only authorised Connectivity Project administrators can see your full details. The public 'Check registration' page shows your name, location and a partly hidden phone number, and only to someone who already knows your tag. Once you verify your email, your member card carries a QR code: anyone who scans it sees your name, tag, town, number of hotspot sites and the date you joined, so they can confirm you are a member. It never shows your phone number or email.

Keeping out fake registrations

We use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that forms are filled in by people, not automated programs, and we confirm email addresses with a one-time code sent by our email provider, Resend. Neither is used for advertising.

How long we keep it

For as long as you are a member. You can ask us to correct or delete your details at any time.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data and to withdraw consent. Contact us at hello@theconnectivityproject.com with your tag and registered phone number.
